Our Story
We were tired of replacing pants. Then we got tired of sewing them.
Not because our kids were growing out of them, because they were destroying them.
Grass stains we could live with. But holes in the knees after two weeks? We bought anything and everything that claimed to be durable in the knees and our son could still blow threw them after a few wears. We knew there had to be a better way, so we built it.
Founded by a mom who'd had enough.
Kneez is a kids' apparel brand started by Diana — a working mom of two active boys who treat every surface as an opportunity to slide, crawl, climb, or dive. After months of replacing pants every few weeks and patching the rest, she went looking for kids' clothing actually built to survive a childhood.
She didn't find it. So she partnered with her husband Dave, a 19-year veteran of commercial sales in the construction industry, to track down the materials the rest of the kids' apparel industry had overlooked.
Dave's career was spent in industries where gear is expected to take a beating — trade tools, jobsite equipment, professional-grade hardware. He saw an opportunity to bring those materials into a market that had never used them: kids' clothing, where everything is optimized for cute and almost nothing for durability
Why ballistic nylon?
Together, Diana and Dave spent months researching and testing materials used in environments where durability actually matters: military gear, motorcycle equipment, tactical apparel, industrial workwear, and even fire & rescue.
The logic was simple: if it can survive abrasion in those environments, it can handle a Tuesday at the playground. There becomes a tough balance between introducing an indestructible material, but still having the comfort to move, stretch, and play.
Kneez Original is built around a ballistic nylon reinforced knee zone, sewn into a soft 100% cotton body for everyday comfort. The result: kids' pants that feel normal to wear, and refuse to wear out.
Made with intention and tested obsessively.
Every pair of Kneez is manufactured in our partner facility which we vetted personally for quality, ethics, and consistency. We don't cut corners on materials, and we don't cut corners on testing. See our materials page for more information.
Every Kneez style is:
- CPSIA tested for lead and phthalates
- Flammability tested per 16 CFR 1610
- Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified — verified free from harmful substances
We're parents first. We won't put anything on your kids that we wouldn't put on ours. The strongest lesson we've learned in this process is how horrible the fast fashion industry has become and we refuse to compromise.
